Curaçao sends observers to St. Maarten elections

Sint MaartenWILLEMSTAD, THE HAGUE - Election observers from Curaçao together with delegates from Aruba and the Netherlands will oversee the snap parliamentary elections held in Sint Maarten this coming Monday.

The Undersecretary for Kingdom Relations Raymond Knops informed the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament about this in a letter. The Prime Minister of St. Maarten Leona Romeo-Marlin has asked him to assist in this matter. This issue was brought to the attention of the Undersecretary during his recent visit to St. Maarten. It was then followed by a written confirmation.

A similar request was made to Curaçao and Aruba. The Supreme Electoral Councils of both islands have promised to send a delegate to St. Maarten.

St. Maarten called a snap election after the government of William Marlin lost its majority on November 2 last year.
