Curaçao top in the region

InternetWILLEMSTAD – In recent reports published by Ookla, the global leader in testing broadband Internet connections, it appears that Curaçao, in the field of internet speed (both download and upload), belongs in the top countries in the region. This was reported by the Curaçao Business Association (VBC) in their most recent newsletter.

With a download speed of 16.82 Mbps and an upload speed of 5.14 Mbps Curaçao has a top position in the region, says the VBC. “Compared to countries like Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore and the Netherlands down- and upload speeds of 40 to 95 Mbps, we still have to go a long way, but with a 52nd place from a list of 192 countries, Curaçao is not doing so badly.”

Speed is an important component, but how is the price and quality, the VBC asks themselves. "ICT pulse has conducted a research in May of this year. The prices of ISPs from nineteen countries in the region were compared. What 'low speed' is concerned, the rates Curaçao uses are competitive. When it comes to 'high speed' it shows that Barbados, Trinidad, Jamaica and Grenada are (much) cheaper. For example, the rates in Barbados are 80 percent. "

Unfortunately, there are no studies conducted on the quality of Internet products offered, according to the VBC.
