Curacao wants its own Central Bank

Asjes_WescottWILLEMSTAD – The most important resolution that came out after the meeting between the Prime Ministers of Curacao and Sint Maarten together with their Ministers of Finance is that Curacao wants its own Central Bank.

Both countries decided to start an independent investigation to realize this objective. Both islands have since 2010 a joint Central Bank. They should have also introduced one currency, the Caribbean guilder.

However, this plan has not been executed yet. As long as both countries have one Central Bank, the current Antillean guilder remains the sole legal tender.
