Dangerous criminals transferred to the Netherlands

Prison CuracaoWILLEMSTAD – Two heavy criminals locked at the SDKK prison were transferred to the Netherlands because of the so called flight risk. The prison has been guarded since Friday by heavily armed soldiers brought in from the Netherlands.

According to sources, these criminals are Liomar W. and Edwin V. These two men are the brains behind the failed escape from the Center for Detention and Correction Curaçao last Monday.

The prison authorities have prevented the outbreak thanks to a tip. The guards combed all cells and found, among other mobile phones, drugs and anabolic steroids, homemade weapons and two cells bars were sawed.

The Ministry of Justice in The Hague confirmed to a Dutch newspaper last night that at the request of the Public Prosecutor in Curaçao two peoplePrisonerwere flown to a prison in the Netherlands. "It was no longer considered prudent to leave these prisoners there," said a spokeswoman. The department did not want to comment about the precise reason for the transfer.

The prison has been transformed into a military fortress. All the prior engagements of the soldiers on the island were canceled second Christmas Day (Boxing Day). An additional safety zone with barbed wire was constructed around the prison. All the access to the prison were furnished with military blockades. The soldiers wear bulletproof vests and balaclavas to remain unrecognizable. Defense could not comment on the unorthodox security.
