Faction leaders condemn mismanagement public companies
WILLEMSTAD – Several faction leaders in parliament agreed that those responsible for the mismanagement at public companies Aqualectra and Refineria di Korsou (Curaçao Oi Refinery) at the time of the government Schotte should be held accountable. This mismanagement has left millions of guilders unaccounted for.
Independent Member of Parliament Omayra Leeflang wants the government, in the name of the people of Curaçao, to seize the bank accounts of those responsible. She argues that 4000 houses could have been built with that money. This would have reduced the waiting list of 7000 to less than half.
PAIS leader Alex Rosaria wants the existing procedures to be followed and that the court of justice should decide on the case. According to Rosaria it is up to the court to decide whether these politicians should be prosecuted.
MAN leader Hensley Koeiman wants to do everything possible to ensure good governance and transparency in both the government services and the public companies. This is the reason why Koeiman advocates for measures against those who are responsible for the mismanagement at these two public companies.
Coalition partner Zita Jesus-Leito of the PAR believes that the report confirms what the party has been saying since 2010.
