Government ready to construct 62 houses at Wechi
WILLEMSTAD – The Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning (VVRP), Suzanne Camelia- Römer recently announced that the construction project at Wechi can finally start. In the first phase the Ministry will construct 62 houses in various models.
According to the Minister, the leader of her party, Humphrey Davelaar made it clear when she was sworn in as minister that one of the priorities is to construct houses for the people. There are currently more than 7300 people registered at the Social Housing Foundation (FKP) waiting for a house. There are also 3500 people registered at the Department of Spatial Planning waiting for a piece of land to construct their own house.
The average necessity is to construct 350 houses per year. During the last 5 years, FKP has been building only 80 houses per year to try to alleviate the need.
