Health Inspectorate: “Do not use Terumo hypodermic needles”
WILLEMSTAD - People who use Terumo injection needles are advised not to use them temporarily. This is according to a report from the Healthcare Inspectorate of Curaçao. This report was issued in response to the uncertainty that arose after the Dutch television program Een Vandaag highlighted potential production problems.
The inspection emphasized that this is just a precaution. “Use temporary alternative needles, if you have them at home.”
In the Netherlands, the needles are not removed from the market because there is not enough information. "There are more facts needed to determine if there are problems, to what extent and whether it constitutes a potential health risk. This is the reason why needles are taken from factories in Belgium, the United Kingdom, and in the Netherlands for research.
“At present there is no evidence that the use of Terumo brand needles or any other brand is a threat to public health,” said the Dutch Health Inspectorate.
