Hodge dissociates himself from statements about Ivar Asjes

Prime Minister HodgeWILLEMSTAD – Outgoing Prime Minister Daniel Hodge has said that he completely dissociates himself from the statements that he supposedly made in the Dutch newspaper “Trouw” about Ivar Asjes.

In an interview with the Dutch newspaper "Trouw" the Prime Minister said that Asjes is not a good leader. He was looking for power and do not have the country's interests at heart.

Some of the alleged statements from the article:

“Ivar Asjes, is not the leader that the island needs.”

“He is controversial and does not enjoy public confidence.”

“If there are problems in the Government of Curacao, the Netherlands should not hesitate to intervene.”

Outgoing Prime Minister Daniel Hodge does not recognize himself in the article and is wondering how his statements were taken out of context.

“Trouw” Journalist Nico Frijter said in response that the interview was conducted in a good atmosphere and the words in the newspaper were from a to z from Daniel Hodge himself.
