Hotel union Horecaf asks Kura Hulanda Lodge employees NOT to sign any document

HorecafWILLEMSTAD – In a letter the hotel union Horecaf asked the employees of the Kura Hulanda Lodge in Westpoint not to sign any document.

According to the General Secretary of the union, Kenneth Valpoort, he has received information that on October 30 of this year, the employees will be requested to attend a meeting with the management of the hotel. At this meeting, the employees will be requested to sign a document indicating that the management will not pay them their salaries at the end of this month.

“The management has drafted a letter to the employees to sign indicating a transfer from the current company to another one, which will guarantee their salary for the following month. They will also inform that they have to fill the forms to receive social security from the Social Insurance Bank (SVB),” the letter indicated.

Horecaf tried to get in contact with the management of the hotel to find out what is true about this news, but it was to no avail. Knowing that the management could be misleading the employees, the union requests all employees NOT to sign any document. According to the union this is unacceptable and it is against all legal procedure.

Horecaf calls for the Labor Department to find out what is going on and contact the employees so they won’t have to go through the same situation as the employees at the Kura Hulanda Hotel in Otrabanda, Willemstad.
