House search at former minister Scoop-Constancia
WILLEMSTAD - The investigation into fraud with orders of surgical masks that was named ‘Dubnium’ led the authorities to the arrest of the man Gianni B. (43). This was confirmed by the Public Prosecution today.
House searches were also conducted in five homes, including those of the MFK MP Jacinta Scoop-Constancia, her husband and her mother, said the MP herself in the media.
The investigation Dubnium covers offenses that occurred possibly when ordering and payment of surgical masks in the year 2012, the period that Scoop-Constancia was Minister of Health. At that time, the suspect, Gianni B. placed an order for or on behalf of the Foundation for Medical Services (BOD) for surgical masks and received a payment of over 365,000 guilders, but these masks were never delivered to BOD.
The current Minister of Health, Bernard Whiteman filed a complaint after a thorough investigation performed by the Government Accountants Foundation (SOAB) against the former Minister of Health for her involvement in the irregularities.
It is suspected that several people have enriched themselves personally through this transaction. The offenses relate to fraud, forgery, embezzlement and money laundering.
