It is official: ‘Lucille George- Wout appointed as Governor of Curaçao’

Lucille George-WoutWILLEMSTAD, THE HAGUE - On the recommendation of the Council of Ministers of Curaçao, the Kingdom Council of Ministers agreed to appoint Mrs. Lucille Andrea George-Wout (Curaçao, 1950) as new Governor of Curaçao at a meeting of November 1, 2013,

The Rules for the Governor of Curaçao, which are also a Kingdom ordinance, requires that the person appointed as Governor, should swear an oath to the king and accept the corresponding function in a solemn session of the Parliament of Curaçao.

Therefore, Ms. George-Wout will swear an oath to His Majesty King Willem-Alexander on November 4, 2013. Once she is back on the island, there will be a solemn Parliamentary Assembly convened in which Mrs. George-Wout will give a speech. This speech will be in the context of the acceptance of her new constitutional function.

With the appointment of Lucille George Wout, Curaçao will have an experienced person for the post of Governor who also has a long career and wide and deep and extensive knowledge in the field of political and governmental affairs.
