Judge: “Elvis ‘Monster’ Kuwas is ruthless and unscrupulous

Life sentence for Kuwas. Involvement Damascus and Pieter in the murder was not proven

judge-hammer1-courtWILLEMSTAD - This morning, the judge ruled in the case Magnus, which is the investigation into the murder of the political leader Helmin Magno Wiels.

It was three of the suspects who are allegedly involved in the murder of Helmin Wiels and directly or indirectly involved in other crimes. Prime suspect Elvis Kuwas, aka Monster, received the maximum sentence demanded by the Public Prosecution (OM), of life imprisonment. He was found guilty of three contract killings: besides Helmin Wiels also Lionel Arnaud on June 8, 2012 and Raikel Conception on January 27, 2013, both in Curaçao. The judge called Kuwas unscrupulous and ruthless. His life imprisonment may be revised after 20 years if Kuwas is no longer seen as a danger to society, as is now the case, according to the Judge.

The Judge said that the Public Prosecutor did not convincingly prove that the other suspects, Carlos Pieter and Dangelo Damascus, facilitated in the murder of the politician. It was not proven, for example, that Damascus supplied clothes to Kuwas. Also, the OM did not prove that Raul Martinez was the driver. However, Damascus was convicted of two armed robberies in a money runner and possession of illegal firearms. Verdict: 8 years, minus remand. Pieter had three years already. He was involved in one of the armed robberies together with Damascus. For complicity in the robbery Pieter received 18 months, minus the remand.
