Leeflang is criticized by coalition party PAIS
WILLEMSTAD - Coalition party PAIS has lashed out at the independent MP, Omayra Leeflang. She has indicated that during the talks at the Interparliamentary Kingdom Consultations (IPKO) the role of the governor in the Caribbean countries would be discussed.
This is based on an incorrect and unworkable motion of the Curaçao parliament that wants to erode the position of the governor. Leeflang also indicated that it is for this reason that she is not attending the IPKO.
In a statement, PAIS calls the declaration made by Leeflang a lie. The parliamentarian was also criticized for not defending her opinion during the IPKO that will last until tomorrow.
In terms of content, the role of the governor is not on the agenda. PAIS says that it does not find a change in the position and powers of the governor desirable.
A motion to that, which was well supported by a majority in parliament, has been forwarded by the President of Parliament, Mike Franco to the Advisory Board.
