Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Economic Development and Seatrade
WILLEMSTAD – On Thursday, July 7th of this year a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Minister of Economic Development Eugene Rhuggenaath and the Director of Seatrade Peter Govers. This MoU focuses on local fisheries. The intention is that this collaboration will generate more employment opportunities for local professionals at Seatrade.
The origin of this MoU is based on the need to promote greater economic development in the local fishery. With the signed MoU, Seatrade declares its readiness to create, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development, jobs for at least 24 local professionals.
The Ministry of Economic Development will help Seatrade in the recruitment and selection of these local professionals. These will eventually be employed by Seatrade. The positions in which these professionals will be deployed are sailor, cook and (assistant) mechanic in the engine compartment and on the ships of Seatrade. The intention is that the ministry will provide at least twelve sailors, six cooks and six technicians. The selected professionals will be trained and employed by Seatrade and not by the government.
The agreements in this MoU are valid for a period of 12 months and will then evaluated. After the evaluation, the parties will determine whether the contract will be continued. If necessary, new arrangements concerning the operational and implementation plan between the Ministry and Seatrade will be made after the evaluation.
