WILLEMSTAD – Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Irene Dick is willing to reconsider or even revoke the measures accepted during a meeting of the Council of Ministers last May 9. This decision was sent to the School Boards on May 15 for execution.

The Minister indicated that she requested information from her councilors, but this was not provided. From what she has up until now, it can be derived that the pain these measures will cause are real. She has to take this into account.

“I’m here working on the progress of our community,” the Minister said. She continued saying that many of these measures were proposed by the experts with even considering the reality of the students they are affecting. She knows that it wasn’t the experts’ intention to hurt the students. “Fact is that the economy is not doing well and all Ministries and Departments have to cut in their budgets.”

“When I asked for the experts’ advice, I received this and I thought it was the road we were supposed to take. As Minister I can’t do everything, that is why each department has experts in their fields to assist me,” the Minister said.

“If there is something not well prepared, then we have to revoke it,” the Minister said.
