More layoffs expected at InselAir

InselWILLEMSTAD - That is unofficial information about another round of more layoffs at the local aviation company InselAir. This was neither confirmed nor denied by the airline’s management. After several attempts, the answer was “no comment for now!”

But reliable sources close to the airline admitted that there will be layoffs but that the management has agreed to keep this information internally this week. They will communicate this with the press next week.

It is unclear how many employees will lose their jobs. The source indicated that the company is talking about 150 to 175 employees.

Earlier this month, the company communicated that it was expecting to be able to use at least one of its MD jets. This is necessary to expand their routes, especially during the vacation period. This would also bring more revenues for the airline. But the airline is still waiting on the Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) for the approval. The airline is currently using two to three Fokker 50’s to fly between the ABC Islands and Sint Maarten.
