New Economic Bank in the making

WillemstadWILLEMSTAD - Research is being conducted, together with the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), into the creation of a new development bank, the Curaçao Development and Financial Institution (CDFI).

The Minister of Economic Development, Stanley Palm is expecting a presentation about this new endeavor. “The people of ECLAC have been on the island and have discussed this project with all stakeholders. They are working to set up a new structure.”

Curacao has three agencies that engage in financing economic development on the island. These are Korpodeko, the Economic Development Foundation and OBNA. The Minister will consider whether these three entities will go into the CDFI or if the CDFI will be an additional institution next to these three development banks.
