Next week, coalition decides on port concession CPA-CPS
WILLEMSTAD - The coalition parties will make a decision next week a decision on a possible 25-year concession in port stevedoring company Curaçao Port Services (CPS). This was decided yesterday at a meeting of the cooperating parties, which is the regular meeting of coalition partners PS, PAIS, PNP and Independent MP, Glenn Sulvaran.
During the meeting yesterday, the attendees received a presentation from the management of the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) on the proposal that is currently on the table.
CPA also emphasized on the legal, but especially on the financial consequences if the deal between CPA and CPS does not proceed. As is known, CPS has two concessions to operate in the port area.
One concession covered the stevedoring and the other on the transport of containers with tractors and trailers. Both parties will have to find a solution for the transportation of containers, the so called Semi-problem.
The presentation was extensive and took a long time. It was then decided that the parties will consider the information provided. Next Thursday, at the next meeting of the cooperating parties, a final decision will be made.
