No support ruling party PS for draft concession CPS
WILLEMSTAD – Coalition party PAIS cannot count on the support of its partner Pueblo Soberano (PS) for the signing of the newly negotiated draft concession between the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) and Curaçao Port Services (CPS).
In a joint statement, four MPs from PS stated that the container handling gantry cranes of the container terminal should continue to be owned by the CPA, which puts the investment of CPS lower than the currently discussed 30 million guilders for the cranes, and thus making the need for entering into a long-term contract unnecessary. In the concept concession, they have agreed to a period of 25 years.
The statement was signed by PS MPs Jaime Cordoba (faction leader), Elmer Wilsoe, Winifred Raveneau and Sherwin Leonora. Leonora explained that since PS MP Melvin "Mac" Cijntje is abroad for personal reasons, his signature is missing, but the PS is on the same line about the issue.
