PAIS proposes dispute agreement in the Kingdom
WILLEMSTAD – The coalition party PAIS submitted a proposal for a dispute agreement in the Kingdom to the Standing Committee Kingdom Relations, Inter-Parliamentary Relations and External Relations of the Dutch Parliament.
In their document, PAIS proposes a Joint Court of Dispute, which should arbitrate the disputes between the countries of the Kingdom. In the proposal, the PAIS wants to introduce an independent Court of Justice, which is limited to disputes concerning compatibility of a decision made by the Governments in the Kingdom.
For the preparation of this proposal, according to PAIS, they used the recommendations and conclusions obtained from the information of the Council of States and the Working Group Report Dispute 2014. It is intended that the proposal will soon be discussed in the standing committee. The subject will continue during the tripartite talks on May 25 and 26 between Curaçao, Aruba and St. Maarten in The Hague. It will also be dealt with during the Interparliamentary Kingdom Consultation (IPKO) from May 27 to 29 in The Hague.
