PAR: “Premier Asjes must be held accountable for Wiels’ actions”

Prime MinisterWILLEMSTAD – Prime Minister Ivar Asjes must come to Parliament and be held accountable for the possible irregularities surrounding the Minister Plenipotentiary of Curacao, Marvelyne Wiels. This is according to the Member of Parliament for PAR, Armin Konket.

Konket indicated that it is remarkable that Wiels wants to come to Parliament and explain the situation. She is not a Minister, but the Minister Plenipotentiary and resorts under the Minister of General Affairs, who is also the Prime Minister. “The person who is responsible for the Minister Plenipotentiary will have to come and explain,” according to Konket.

Questionable appointments

Last week it was announced that Wiels had tampered with her resume. Earlier it was already known that the Minister Plenipotentiary made some questionable appointments, including her daughter and a friend who is now employed at the Curacao House in The Hague. Konket does not want to prejudge Asjes’ explanation. “The Prime Minister must give an explanation and based on that we will draw our conclusions,” the PAR MP said.
