Plasterk wants a better cooperation between the islands
WILLEMSTAD – The Dutch Minister of Kingdom Relations, Ronald Plaster wants to improve the cooperation between the Caribbean islands in the Kingdom. This is evident form the budget of his ministry for the coming year, which was presented by the Dutch Minister of Finance to the House of Representatives during the Budget Day in the Netherlands.
Curaçao, Aruba, St. Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba have to join forces, according to the Minister. For example to fight crime on the islands and to grow the economy.
The budget does not indicate how the Netherlands intends to contribute to improving this cooperation. No funds have been allocated for this endeavor. Millions have been invested in fighting the influence of the gambling industry on political parties in Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
