Prime Minister: Oil Refinery lost 50 million dollars under Cabinet Schotte

Ivar AsjesWILLEMSTAD – During his weekly radio program, “Konsenshi Sivil” (Civil Conscience), the leader of the Pueblo Soberano Party and current Prime Minister of Curaçao, Ivar Asjes, accused Gerrit Schotte and his government of yet another act of corruption.

“Under the Government headed by Gerrit Schotte, the public entity “Refineria di Korsou” (Curaçao Oil Refinery) lost 50 million dollars. Not fifty thousand, but million. And not guilders, but dollars,” Asjes stated during his radio program while he was cheered by his party members.

According to Asjes, Schotte apparently used 100 million dollars in alleged investments in maintenance, but only half of this fund is reflected in the records.

“The auditors could not find the other 50 million dollars, but they are working hard on it to either find it or find those who stole it. Either way, they will find it,” Asjes declared.

“We cannot ask the public company for donations. It’s impossible. In the past 14 months we have not asked the refinery anything. They still need to recover from Fancesco Corallo and Gerrit Schotte,” the Prime Minister said.
