Prime Minister: “Oil refinery must be cleaner”
WILLEMSTAD – “The refinery must be cleaner.” This was stated by the Prime Minister of Curaçao Dr. Bernhard Whiteman during the weekly Pueblo Soberano party meeting at their headquarters last Saturday.
The Prime Minister does not want to wait for the modernization of the refinery. “It is necessary to reduce the pollution now.”
According to Whiteman the proposal of the Minister of Kingdom Relations, Ronald Plasterk is a great opportunity that must be seized with both hands. This will certainly help to reduce the pollution of the oil refinery. Two projects will be launched with the support of the Netherlands.
In the first project the oil refinery will be inspected and controlled. In the second project an expert in the field of environmental law will be requested to help. Both projects have been sent to the Ministry of Finance for the necessary funds.
