PS wants public meeting on CCTV
WILLEMSTAD – Coalition party Pueblo Soberano (PS) will submit a request for a public meeting on the implementation of the CCTV. The party is against the implementation of the project as it is on the table.
The request for the meeting will be presented during these days, according to the MP for the party, Melvin ‘Mac’ Cijntje.
According to Cijntje it is simply unacceptable that there double standards. “Former Minister Earl Balborda had to wait a long time until there was a public tender held for his project before it could be carried out, but the government is deviating from standard procedure to accommodate the Minister of Justice, Nelson Navarro. This is unacceptable,” said the PS MP.
Cijntje emphasizes that the ministers who voted for the execution of the project in the Council of Ministers, including José Jardim of Finance, who gave permission to Navarro to deviate from a public tender, have acted against the principles of good governance. “Deviation from a public tender for a project of more than 6 million guilders is unheard of. It is also inconsistent with the prevailing accounting principles.”
