Raid Schotte commissioned by Italy

Gerrit SchotteWILLEMSTAD - The raid that took place last month at the home of MFK leader and former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte has a connection with Francesco Corallo, a Sicilian businessman who runs a large number of casinos in St. Maarten and Curacao. This was reported in the local media. Italian police raided the home of Corallo and found documents which have a direct link with Schotte.

After this find, the Italian Public Prosecutor requested the assistance of the prosecution in Curacao with the investigation. Corallo is Francesco Corallo Interpol picturesuspected of money laundering. The prosecution of the island is not commenting on the case.

According to the prosecution, the reason for the raid on Schotte’s house was a criminal investigation into suspected money laundering and forgery. Last week the former Prime Minister was once again in the news because of his 'stolen' diplomatic passport. This was found during the raid.
