oil refineryTHE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD - Pollution from the oil refinery Isla and the research commissioned by the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert is done and will be discusses this coming November during a committee meeting on Kingdom Relations. The Parliamentary Committee for Kingdom Relations has made that decision today. The political parties PvdA and VVD did actually prefer a meeting to discuss the situation on St. Maarten. This is the only issue where every party is interested in right now.

Other topics such as the Isla refinery could be actually dealt with in writing. At the request of Wassila Hachchi, MP for D66, it was decided to let each political party decide which topics they want to discuss.

“Perhaps the focus is on St. Maarten, but we are also free to ask questions about, for example the refinery,” said Hachchi. A date for the meeting has not yet been determined.
