Request for parliamentary meeting on Venezuela
WILLEMSTAD – Member of Parliament for the coalition party, Alex Rosaria has submitted a request for a meeting of the standing committee Kingdom Relations, Inter-Parliamentary relations and External Relations of parliament. Rosaria is Vice Chairman of this Committee and wants to be informed by the government about the current state of affairs in the neighboring country.
Rosaria is worried about the current situation in Venezuela. He noted that the country has to do with an imbalance of macro-economic and political spheres with all its consequences. “This may have implications for Curaçao. And not only in trade but also for the future of the Isla refinery and for the safety of our borders.”
The MP sees sufficient reason to request a meeting of the standing committee on this subject. During this meeting, which will be behind closed doors, the government must inform the committee about the impact of the crisis in Venezuela. He assumes that representatives of the Foreign Affairs (DBB), customs, but also the immigration department will attend this meeting. "We hope to get information and the committee may also ask questions to get clarification from the government.”
