Solar panel importers contemplating lawsuit against Aqualectra

Panels[13]WILLEMSTAD – The four importers of solar panels on the island, Dynaf, Eco Energy, Watts UP Energy and Dutch Durables are contemplating a multi million dollar lawsuit against the utility company, Aqualectra after the company decided not to approve requests for solar panel installations.

The solar panel importers indicate that Aqualectra has signed a contract with them and must comply. One of these companies has already invested thousands of dollars in importing panels for a client. They have also contracted American experts to come to the island to install these solar panels. According to this company, their client has now cancelled the order because of Aqualectra’s refusal to approve the permit for installation. There are also other clients who are canceling their orders.

Raynald van der Bos, owner of Dutch Durables explains that as of now, the four companies are talking to each other about this situation, but also their lawyer to advise them on the next step. One of these steps could be a lawsuit against the utility company.

Hans van der Gulik, director of Dynaf says that he has not seen proof of Aqualectra’s refusal to sign permits for installations, but says that the parties have to look for a win-win situation for all. He also said that he regrets that Aqualectra did not talk to them to maybe come to a solution.
