Swearing in new cabinet postponed

KARTA DI GOBERNADOR 310513WILLEMSTAD – Acting Governor, Adele van der Pluijm-Vrede informed members of the coalition in Parliament that the new Government will not be installed on Monday as it was planned. The reason is that one or more of the candidate ministers did not comply with the Integrity Ordinance.

The Governor’s letter reads as follows:

Dear members of the Parliament,

I refer to your letter of May 27 this year in which you request my cooperation to swear in on Monday, June 3 the members of the new cabinet. As you known, the Integrity Ordinance (candidate) Ministers indicates that some formal and procedural requirements should be met before we can proceed to appoint ministers. At present not all the requirements are fully met as prescribed by this Act. Only when this is the case, a date for the appointment of new ministers and swearing in can be established.

I am sending a copy of this letter to formateur Mr. G. Camelia.
