Tax inspectorate on strike

Tax InspectorateWILLEMSTAD - The employees of the Tax Inspectorate are determined and will persevere until their demands are met. If this means that they will continue with their strike is not clear. The representative of the government employees union ABVO, Gregory Wilson can’t say for how long they will continue with their fight against the government.

The first action was carried out by working fewer hours, but the workers have completely stopped working and have not been giving regular services to the public at all.

The personnel are more dissatisfied with the withdrawal of an additional allowance. In anticipation of a new salary structure, the staff got a temporary extra fee, but the government has decided not to grant them this extra payment. Officials want the bonus back and wish for the government to hire more people. They have been camping with extra working hours, which put a lot of pressure on them.

The ABVO gave a press conference yesterday afternoon in the presence of the employees of the Inspectorate, who are on strike. The union wanted this emphasize the urgency of the government employees. Talks with the government are not giving any results. The union has tried to meet with the Minister of Finance, Dr. Jose Jardim, but up until now it was to no avail.
