Teachers’ union sets other priorities than Solidaridat Sindikal

Darius PlantijnWILLEMSTAD - The teachers’ union SITEK was one of the great absentees during the actions of Solidaridat Sindikal in recent days. SITEK chairman Lio Plantijn says to have other priorities than to carry out actions.

The chairman of the teachers’ union knows that the three demands for which the fifteen unions called upon the members to manifest have consequences for the community and with that the consequences for the education sector. Nevertheless, he does not find it the right time.

Plantijn also doubts the willingness to act among the members of the fifteen participating unions. When asked whether the attitude of SITEK has anything to do with any of the unions that made the call for action, Plantijn does not want to comment on that.
