The Prime Minister expresses condolences after plane crash

Premier AsjesWILLEMSTAD – In an official statement, the Prime Minister of Curaçao, Ivar Asjes, expressed his condolences over the plane crash in eastern Ukraine. "The Curaçao government has taken note with great dismay of the tragedy in which an aircraft from Malaysia Airlines has been shot down."

The Boeing 777 was en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.


"We have heard that there were 280 passengers from different nationalities and fifteen crew members that were killed. Among them there were 173 people with the Dutch nationality.” On behalf of the Curaçao government, Asjes stated that the Curaçao people live with the families of the victims and the Dutch community in these sad moments. The Premier also shares compassion with the Prime Minister Mark Rutte and the Dutch Government.

The Prime Minister and his government gave instructions to fly the Curaçao at half-mast.
