Three arrested – Gold bars related to the Curacao gold heist found at jeweler’s house

WILLEMSTAD – The police have arrested three suspects during a raid related to the robbery of gold bars on November 30, 2012 with a value of 11.5 million dollars. On one of these raids the police have arrested a jeweler where presumably they have found two of these gold bars. According to reports the jeweler has his business in the downtown area of Otrabanda in Willemstad.

Spokesperson for the police Reginald Huggins did not want to give more information on the case since it’s still under investigation.

On Friday November 30, masked men in jackets emblazoned with the word “police” boarded a fishing boat in Curacao and stole 70 gold bars worth an estimated $11.5 million. The boat’s captain was struck in the head in the early-morning assault before the thieves made off with the gold in three cars. Authorities believe there were at least six men involved in the heist.

On the news at channel 8 it was also reported that a total of 30 gold bars were found in the U.S. and that there is a major organization helping to solve this case.
