Transparency International’s Curaçao National Integrity System Assessment launch

Transparency-InternationalWILLEMSTAD – Transparency International, the global anti-corruption organization, will launch its assessment of Curaçao’s National Integrity System on 25 June 2013. Following extensive research on the ground and interviews with key stakeholders in the past year, the report will contain findings on the corruption risks on the island as well as concrete recommendations on how to improve integrity and good governance. It takes a detailed look at the main pillars of society, such as the public sector, business, political parties, media and other institutions.

The report will be launched with a press conference open to all media outlets.

When: Tuesday, 25 June 2013, 15:00 – 17:00

Where: Flamboyant Convention Centre, Sunscape Resort (formerly Breezes)

Speakers will include:

  • Alejandro Salas, Regional Director for the Americas at Transparency International
  • Deryck Murray, Chair of the Trinidad and Tobago Transparency Institute
  • Nelly Schotborgh, Lead researcher of the Curaçao National Integrity System assessment

In addition, the general public of Curaçao is invited to a public event in which the findings will be presented. Knowing the strengths and weaknesses as well as the corruption vulnerabilities of their governance system is essential for citizens to hold their elected politicians to account.
