Travel agents and international media participated at the KLM Curaçao Marathon
A total of 37 travel agents and 16 media members
WILLEMSTAD- On November 29, a total of 2100 athletes representing 33 countries crossed the floating bridge during the second edition of the KLM Marathon. In addition to the great number of local and international participants, there were also 37 Dutch travel agents and media representatives, 9 media representatives from Aruba, 3 from Suriname and one from Trinidad. The international media were here, especially to cover the event while some also participated in the marathon together with the travel agents. It is also good to note that the media representative from Trinidad came in second in the half marathon category.
The travel agents are the winners of the KLM Curaçao Sales Run, which was organized by KLM, Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) and Run in the Sun Foundation. The main objective behind the KLM Curaçao Sales Run is to stimulate ticket sales to Curaçao and participation in the marathon. Those who sold more tickets during the month of November won the opportunity to form part of a trip to Curaçao starting November 26 until December 1. The 37 travel agents who won the competition visited Curaçao and explored the island, and got more acquainted with the touristic product and also participated in the KLM Curaçao Marathon.
The media from Suriname, the Netherlands, Aruba and Trinidad were from various TC channels, social media, newspaper and radio station. Some of these are Diario, TeleAruba, zoomaruba.com, radio Solo di Pueblo, ITV, Awemainta, Girlslove2Run, ABC TV/Radio, ATV and a few freelance sports reporters. The Aruba media was also on the island to cover the sport weekend here in Curaçao where they reported on various sport events.
For CTB events such as the KLM Curaçao Marathon help with the promotion of the island under those who like to participate or are interested in sport events.
