Update: Raid on former Minister’s company
WILLEMSTAD - The Criminal Investigation Cooperation Team (RST) arrested the 36-year-old Caryllish Caroline Martina this morning. Martina is suspected of forgery and misappropriation of a portion of a subsidy provided by the Ministry of Finance in 2012.
The subsidy amounted to 450,000 guilders and was awarded to the Fundashon pa Optimalisashon di Bario di Steenrijk i Divi Divi (Foundation for the Betterment of the neighbourhoods Steenrijk and Divi Divi). The investigation of these offenses has been started after the current Minister of Finance brought the issue to the attention of Public Prosecution in 2015.
Led by the supervisory judge, the members of the RST held three raids this morning. First on a house in Santa Maria, then on Speedy Security office in Saliña and an office building in Brievengat. Various documents were seized.
Martina is the director of Speedy Security, Speedy Kopter and Speedy Armored Division. In the latter two, she works with co-director Carlos Monk (former Minister in Schotte Cabinet). She is the former girlfriend of George Jamaloodin, owner of Speedy Security. She is married to Gino Campbell, who was appointed by Jamaloodin, during his term as minister, as CEO of the Gaming Control Board. Despite a negative SBTNO advice.
