Venezuela and Kingdom should talk about debt to InselAir
WILLEMSTAD – The local aviation company InselAir wants the Kingdom and its neighbouring country Venezuela to directly negotiate the debt the South American country has with the airline.
CEO of Insel Air, Albert Kluyver says that if a country does not adhere to the aviation agreement, it is up to the countries to resolve the disputes. InselAir is in financial dire straits because there are still several millions of dollars tied up in Venezuela.
According to the CEO, Venezuela still has to pay 67 million dollars to InselAir Curaçao and 29 million dollars to InselAir Aruba. InselAir meanwhile has requested financial assistance from the Curaçao government, they can no longer meet their payment obligations.
The Minister of Transportation, Suzanne Camelia-Römer recently announced that she would mediate for the airline in Venezuela. This is still no information whether the Minister has done this or not.
