Venezuela delivers protest to the USA for airspace violation
CARACAS, WILLEMSTAD - Venezuelan Foreign Ministry handed a protest note to the American Charge d''Affaires in Caracas, Lee Mclenny due to the incursion of an American aircraft in the airspace of this country, that entity announces today.
According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Minister for North America and Europe, Alejandro Fleming, formally handed the document to the USA representative to repudiate the fact, considered a violation of the national territory.
The South American diplomat gave Mclenny the data and the coordinates of the interference of the aircraft, owned by the US Coast Guard, and demanded an official explanation of the incident.
The press release of the Foreign Ministry notes that the US expressed its agreement with Fleming and acknowledged the incursion of aircraft in Venezuelan territory.
The device, Dash-8 type, was identified three days ago when it approached the northwest and moved until it was located about seven kilometers from the island Los Monjes, thus violating international regulations on the territorial sovereignty of each country, authorities indicate.
According to the Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino, the plane took off from the Hato air base, in Curaçao and had radars suitable for the radio electronic exploration.
The official also expressed his reservations about matching displacements from other American airborne units to Curaçao and several areas of the region.
Without being alarmist, we must be prepared for these unusual maneuvers, which correspond with the right wing plans to destabilize the country after the legislative elections of December 6, Padrino warned.
