22 million for 134 social housing
WILLEMSTAD – 22 million guilders have been made available by two government ministries for social housing. The Ministry of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW) together with the Ministry of Transport, Traffic and Spatial Planning (VVRP) want the Fundashon Kas Popular (Government Housing Foundation) (FKP) to build 134 social houses.
These houses will be constructed for families who have no financial ability to buy a home or to rent these.
“These houses are built for members of our community who need a roof over their heads, so that they and their families can have a decent life,” said the SOAW Minister Ruthmilda Larmonie. Her ministry made 15 million guilders available for these houses and VVRP 7 million to buy land and make them ready for construction. The VVRP will also invest in infrastructure.
The homes will be built in the neighborhoods of Tera Kòrá (8), Barber (17) Bonam (24) Sapaté (30 and 16 for 60 plus), Montaña Abou (30 and 9 for 60 plus). The houses have 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms. “The houses will be constructed between existing ones in order to integrate the new residents in the neighborhood,” said the SOAW-ministry.
In addition to the 134 houses, the FKP will also build 134 additional homes. These houses will probably have a higher but affordable price.
