80/20 regulation not yet executed

Jeanne-Marie-FranciscaWILLEMSTAD – The conditions for the 80/20 regulation have not been met yet for it to become law. This is according to the Minister of Social and Labor Affairs, Jeanne-Marie Francisca during her turn in the 2014 budget debate of Parliament.

One of these conditions is that the job data, which is the responsibility of Minister Francisca’s Ministry, must have a record of people who are academically prepared for these jobs. The government program also indicates that the bill proposal needs a second opinion. The government’s intention is to publish the bill in the first quarter of 2015, which makes it official then and has to be executed.

The 80/20 agreement is a bill proposal made by the Pueblo Soberano party in which they propose that 80% of the working force of any company in Curacao must be local. 20% can be foreigners.
