Alcala-Wallé: Trade union too premature with announcement actions
WILLEMSTAD - The trade union for non-teaching staff STSK is too premature to announce actions. This is according to the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Marilyn Alcala-Wallé.
The minister, therefore, reacts to STSK's threats that if she doesn’t respond within forty-eight hours they will go on strike. The STSK wants to hear from the Minister if she considers them a real union or a representative of the non-teaching staff.
On Sunday, STSK held a meeting and received the support of its members and seven other unions. As is known, the trade union is still not ratified by a Government Decree. Teachers union Sitek also says it represents the non-teaching staff, but STSK disputes this. According to STSK, that's why they founded a trade union.
According to Alcalá-Wallé, she has at least one week for her lawyers to work it out. She wants to avoid having to negotiate with both STSK and Sitek about the same employees.
