Almost 5 million for Court of Auditors

ParliamentWILLEMSTAD - The Curacao Court of Auditors (ARC) will have to get by with almost 5 million guilders next year. That is more than 3 hundred thousand than last year, says Prime Minister Ivar Asjes, who adds that the decision had already been taken four months ago

The announcement by the Prime Minister is at odds with the letter of the ARC to parliament. In that letter, the advisory body reflects on the fact that the budget was cut illegally for the second year in a row.

The ARC was unhappy about the fact that this decision was not taken in consultation, as outlined in the law. The organization speaks of a lack of respect, which affects the independence of the Institute.

But while answering questions, Asjes rejected these accusations towards the government. He noted that the budget of the ARC was presented too late and that contrary to what was indicated by the ARC, there had been discussions between the Finance Department and the Court.
