Amerigo Thode is new President of Parliament
WILLEMSTAD – The Member of Parliament for the biggest coalition party MFK, Amerigo Thode has been elected as the new President of Parliament.
Until today, Amerigo Thode was not a Member of Parliament but since the resignation of Gilmar Pisas to become Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, he was next in line to join the other MPs. He was then immediately elected to this post.
Thode is not a stranger in Parliament. He was already an MP for the MFK party. After this Parliament was sworn in he became an advisor to the MFK faction.
Thodé was previously sentenced by the Court of Justice to a suspended fine for violation of professional secrecy. He had made recordings of a closed parliamentary consultation with the Committee for Financial Supervision (CFT).
