Asjes: ‘No trust in Sedreko Board

Prime MinisterWILLEMSTAD – The Prime Minister of Curacao, Ivar Asjes said that he’s had it with the National Sports Foundation of Curacao, Sedreko. In a letter to the Board, Asjes indicated to the members that he had no confidence in them. One of the reasons is because they lack the required financial documents.

The Prime Minister has requested the final annual report and accounts of 2011 and 2012 on numerous times. He also asked for the plans for 2014 and the budget for the coming year. As a response to his letter, Sedreko gave him the drafts of 2011 and 2012, but according to Asjes that’s not enough. He indicated that he wanted the final version those plans in April of this year.

The Prime Minister also indicated that instead of dealing with the financial help the foundation gets from the Government in a serious way, the Board is doing its utmost to boycott the process. Asjes said that the Board must willfully resign. The current members of the Board were appointed by the political parties MFK and MAN (former coalition members during the Schotte cabinet).

If the Board resigns than the current Government (PS, PAIS, PNP and the independent MP) will appoint the new members.
