Asjes to the Netherlands and Belgium
WILLEMSTAD – Prime Minister of Curaçao, Ivar Asjes will be in the Netherlands and Belgium until March 8. Asjes’ visit should be seen in light of the Presidency of the Octa, the association of Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT), a position he has held since March 1.
During his visit to Brussels in Belgium Asjes will consult with representatives of the European Union and the executive committee of the Octa.
In the Netherlands Asjes will meet with the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and several other members of the Dutch government. In Octa there are 22 countries and territories affiliated with a total of 1.3 million inhabitants.
These are countries that have a direct relationship with countries of the European Union, namely Denmark, Great Britain, France and the Netherlands. During the Prime Minister’s absence, acting Prime Minister Etienne van der Horst (Administration, Planning and Services) will take his place.
