At least a year before AVA Curacao is in the air

BalbordaWILLEMSTAD – It will take at least a year before the new airline AVA Curacao is in the air. This is according to the Minister of Traffic and Transportation, Earl Balborda. “The airline has announced its flight plans and is in the pre application stage. They still have to go through the formal process,” Balborda said during the weekly press conference of the Council of Ministers.

For example, the company does not have the necessary permits yet. According to the Minister, Curacao takes the requirements for aviation very seriously. “We are working very hard to elevate our aviation to category 1 and we cannot take this matter lightly. By the end of 2015 we want to be back in category 1.”

The approval process takes at least one year time.

The President of AVA Curacao did not want to comment on the Minister’s declaration.
