Babel case resumed on Friday
WILLEMSTAD - Next Friday, the defense in the Babel case will give an update on the progress relating to the hearing its witnesses.
At the beginning of November the court ruled that the treatment of this case will be held on February 17, 2016. This is the case in which the former Prime Minister of Curaçao, Gerrit Schotte and his partner Cicily van der Dijs are accused of forgery, money laundering and corruption.
The judge also indicated that the parties should come together to monitor and discuss the progress of the case.
During the hearing on June 17 of this year an additional request was submitted for the hearing of witnesses and the case was postponed during the session held on September 9. The case was also postponed early November because a number of witnesses had to be heard. These hearings were then scheduled for November 18. Whether these witnesses have now been heard is unclear.
