Balborda: “First step to a neighborhood full of hope”

BalbordaWILLEMSTAD – “Curaçao has hope! The first step was taken to construct a new neighborhood full of hope. We started to cool down and avoid the social pains in our country,” the Minister of Urban Planning, Earl Balborda said during the groundbreaking ceremony for the new neighborhood Wechi.

“We started to build houses for kids who will win gold at the Olympics. We are building houses for a child who one day will discover a cure for cancer. Our people are very creative and inventive and this is why Curaçao has hope,” the Minister said.

Minister Balborda believes that the human capital deserves more attention than what it is getting now. He stated that it is now the time to walk ahead to prevent people from taken the wrong paths, which will prevent the government from spending money on bringing people back to the right path.

The Minister said that in Wechi, the government will build houses that appropriate for all levels of society. The neighborhood will be a mix of people of all social levels of the society. The government will build houses for those who are going through social pains.

With the neighborhood Wechi, the government will assume its responsibility to build homes for those with low income on the island.

The Minister thanked the Government Housing Foundation (FKP), the utility company Aqualectra, the Department of Public Works, the Department of Urban Planning and various other consultants for their work in bringing about the initiation of this important project for Curaçao.
