Balborda wants specification on ticket prices
WILLEMSTAD – Minister Earl Balborda (PNP) of Traffic, Transportation and Urban Planning has requested from the Curacao Aviation Companies if they could specify their ticket prices per route.
Motives for this request are complaints from different aviation companies about dishonest competition. Minister Balborda reports that he therefore will map out how the various ticket prices are structured.
On that basis, he wants the Ministry to contribute to the discussion. It is meant for all local airlines which have an ‘Air Operator Certificate’ (AOC), such as DAE, Insel Air and Divi Divi. Balborda says that in no way he wants to take a decision about how high the prices should be, ‘but knowledge gives us the opportunity to ask critical questions,’ said the Minister.
“Prices have to continue to cover costs and safety must of course be guaranteed”. Balborda expects the details of the airlines by next week, as he requested.
